CRESCENT ZOOM 2018-2022

Like a lens zooming in and out, the Crescent Zoom series discovers spectacles from the subatomic to lunar range. Constellations of imagery connect our human experience and celebrate our relationship to the world like a parade. I re-purpose subjects and shapes to highlight the connections and differences between these natural and human made networks. Compositions are largely imagined but also prompt the joy of familiar things like natural phenomena, tide pools, or feather tufts. Cycles of growth repeat and evolve throughout each work to indicate the passage of time and the ephemeral in our world. The focal silhouettes may evoke trees or aquatic creatures and stand in like gateways leading to an otherworldly choose your own adventure. The works balance polarities between light-dark, Technicolor-shadow, and safety-danger. Ornamental patterns are often used as a compositional device to enchant while a shadow suggests another side in a parallel universe. Like a supernova on the horizon that mixes with tiny hieroglyphic-like marks under a microscope, the works present mysteries and ambiguities characterized by a sense of play. Bizarre but beautiful, the works convey wonder through the pleasure in being human and reflecting on the unknown.

Prices range from $800 - $10,000.
